Extreme bass fishing in the Florida Everglades

The Bullseye Snakehead Fish

So.....do you think you have caught it all? Most likely you haven't caught the bullseye snakehead.  The bullseye snakehead is one of the most aggressive and hardest fighting freshwater fish south Florida. The snakehead fish is native to Pakistan, Malaysia, southern China and parts of tropical Africa. The snakehead fish is easily identified by it's long torpedo shaped body and long anal and dorsal fins. It has a flattened head, toothy jaws, breaths air and has a bright red-orange eyespot near the base of the tail.

In 2000 the first line caught bullseye snakehead was identified in South Florida by the Florida Wildlife Commission. Since that first snakehead fish was caught, the Broward county freshwater lakes and canal systems have been taken over by the non-native invader.
The preferred bait is a top water rubber frog. My preference is a top water frog produced by www.JDsCustomBaits.com. The average size of the snakehead fish we are catching is close to three feet long and between 4-8 pounds. The Florida Wildlife Commission expects to see fish up to four feet and 15 pounds in South Florida in the near future. As per the direction of Florida Wildlife Commission, I do not release any snakehead fish instead I eat some and give away the lions share. The meat is incredible and I rate it as the best tasting freshwater table fare available in South Florida.

Come join me for a real adventure into the crazy world  of bullseye snakehead fishing or one of my bass adventures. I guarantee you will be blown away.  On a side note; While fishing for the bullseye snakehead you have a excellent chance of catching a I.G.F.A. world record on any cast!
